Baka Bauhaus Studio
Your Jerusalem Stay
First Impressions
Walking into Baka Bauhaus Studio, you immediately get that “this is different” feeling. It’s not trying to be fancy — this three-star spot on Beit Lehem Road has character instead. The Bauhaus influence is subtle but real, with clean lines and that functional-meets-artistic vibe that actually works. You know what struck me most? How the space feels both modern and rooted in Jerusalem‘s architectural history. The design philosophy here prioritizes authenticity over pretension.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Honestly, the Baka area is one of those Jerusalem neighborhoods that locals love but tourists often miss. You’re close enough to walk to the Old City when you’re feeling ambitious, but far enough away to escape the constant buzz of tour groups. The street itself has this lived-in feel — there’s a great little market nearby, and I mean really nearby, where you can grab fresh produce or just people-watch with a coffee. Couples seem to particularly get this location (they rate it super high), and I can see why — it’s got that authentic Jerusalem residential feel without being isolated. The neighborhood truly captures the essence of local life.
The Space Itself
The room setup here is what you’d expect from a studio concept — everything’s thoughtfully arranged in one space. It’s not huge, but the Bauhaus design principles mean nothing feels cramped or wasted. The windows let in great natural light, which honestly makes a bigger difference than you’d think when you’re staying somewhere for more than just sleeping. The furnishings are simple but well-chosen, and there’s enough storage that you won’t be living out of your suitcase the whole time. Every element serves a purpose in this carefully curated environment.
Morning Fuel
Breakfast here covers the basics with some nice touches — they do vegetarian and kosher options, which in Jerusalem isn’t just thoughtful, it’s practical. I appreciated that they seem to understand different dietary needs without making a big production about it. The morning spread isn’t elaborate, but it’s fresh and gives you enough fuel to tackle whatever Jerusalem adventure you’ve got planned. Plus, eating breakfast in that clean, light-filled space actually starts your day on the right note. The kitchen facilities are also available for guests who prefer to prepare their own meals.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t a place that’s going to wow you with amenities or over-the-top service. What it does do is give you a genuine Jerusalem experience in a space that feels both comfortable and authentic. The location rating speaks for itself — recent guests consistently praise being able to walk to major sites while staying in a real neighborhood. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re living in the city rather than just visiting it, and honestly, that’s worth more than fancy lobby marble or turndown service. This studio delivers genuine hospitality and real value.

Guest Reviews
The location was ideal for me. Just a 5 min walk to my friends’ home. Breakfast was wonderful in a little shaded patio under the trees. The staff was lovely and eager to make my stay pleasant.
What could be improved: I didn’t mind too much but if cleanliness is a must for you I wouldn’t recommend this location. Bed sheets were too small and didn’t fit the mattress. The only thing they did in my two week stay is changed the sheets and towels twice and resupplies toilet paper. The water boiler was falling apart which added plastic particles to my tea. Also the tub/shower is very high and requires a steep climbing over to get in and out.
This is our favorite place to stay in Jerusalem. It’s funky and cozy and comfortable in the breakfast is delicious. This is our second time staying here and we will always book here whenever we are in Jerusalem.
Breakfast was tasty, plenty with a large selection of accompanying spreads. The room was specious, beautiful, quiet, full of character.
What could be improved: Changes in breakfast accomp. spreads. More maintenance in the courtyard.
The location and the price were good
What could be improved: The place requires some renovation and repair. In order to turn the water heater on you have to contact the owner. A neighbor kept playing the piano.
Great staff in a great location in Baka area, a beautiful tony section of Jerusalem. The hotel is fun with great guests, many foreign visitors here to meet friends and family; lots of family events on the weekend. OK, the rooms are a bit small, but this is an old historic building, so what more would you expect. The breakfast was fine...sufficient variety not to become boring. The outdoor patio adjacent to the street is fun to sit at..no bar or food served there but bring your own from any of the restaurants and shops nearby and enjoy the evening breeze. It's about 2 miles from the old town on the Bethlem road and not too far from one of Jerusalem's major malls. Plenty to do. Also....and maybe I shouldn't let the cat out of the bag, but free parking across the road for those with a car.
What could be improved: I would have loved a bigger room but you can't always get what you want.
We spent one night in Baka as we were visiting friends in the area. The hotel is a cute bauhaus building with tall walls and a limited number of rooms. There is also a wonderful large patio for all guests where breakfast is served and we spent time there relaxing. Very nice to wake up to breakfast and coffee. The room has all the basics and a nice bathroom. Adi and her husband are very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely return!
Host was very attentive and accommodating for requests such as extra towels etc., breakfast preparation etc.
What could be improved: While there is a small room safe, it is not fastened to anything so anyone can just carry it away easily. As a result, it was not used which would have been nice to do.
Great place, the owners are very helpfull and all the place is beautifull, 100% recomended
What could be improved: All was perfect
What could be improved: Mosquitoes and bugs and not clean
We LOVED our stay at Baka Bauhaus. The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast - omelette, cappuccino, fresh bread, multiple spreads and my highlight - fresh chopped salad - was the perfect way to start our day. The location is one of my favourite in Jerusalem, cafes and shopping down the street, steps from the 'greenway', steps from Emek Rafaim and walkable to the kotel and downtown. It's not for everyone - if you prefer 5 star hotels with generic conveniences then stay at one of them in downtown Jerusalem. However, if you like personality and wonder, clean but 'funky', then this place is for you.
What could be improved: Not a lot of dishes in the kitchenette, but in fairness, we could have asked the staff and I'm sure they would have provided us with more.
