Cohens apartments
Your Jerusalem Stay
First Impressions
Walking up to Cohens apartments on Shamai Street, you’ll notice it doesn’t scream “hotel” at you — and honestly, that’s part of its charm. This three-star property sits quietly in one of Jerusalem’s most coveted neighborhoods, where the energy of the city center meets residential calm. The building has that understated Jerusalem stone facade that blends seamlessly with the historic surroundings, but step inside and you’ll find something refreshingly modern and well-maintained.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about staying at Cohens apartments — you’re literally in the heart of everything without feeling like you’re camping out in Times Square. Shamai Street puts you within easy walking distance of Ben Yehuda Street’s cafes and shops, yet it’s tucked away enough that you can actually sleep at night. The Western Wall is about a 15-minute stroll through the Old City, and if you’re into nightlife, the bars and restaurants around Zion Square are practically on your doorstep. I mean, couples consistently rate this spot highly for romantic getaways, and after spending time here, I totally get why.
The Apartment Experience
What sets Cohens apartments apart is that you’re getting actual apartment-style accommodations rather than typical hotel rooms. Each unit feels like a proper home base — you know, the kind of place where you can spread out your stuff and not feel cramped. The kitchenettes are actually functional (not just for show), which is perfect if you want to grab fresh ingredients from Mahane Yehuda Market and cook something up. The furnishings strike that sweet spot between comfortable and stylish, though don’t expect cutting-edge design — it’s more about creating a livable space that works for both short and longer stays.
Practical Perks
The staff here really knows their stuff when it comes to Jerusalem recommendations — they’re not just handing you generic tourist brochures. Need to know the best time to visit the Kotel? They’ll tell you. Looking for a decent hummus place that locals actually eat at? They’ve got opinions. The building itself is well-maintained, and while the amenities aren’t flashy, everything you need is there and working properly. WiFi is solid throughout, which matters more than you’d think in some Jerusalem properties.
Why Guests Love It
Recent guests consistently highlight the location as the standout feature, and after staying here, I can see why that 8.2 rating holds up. You’re getting excellent value for a spot that puts you right in the action without paying Old City premium prices. The apartment setup means you have more flexibility than a standard hotel — grab breakfast at a local cafe or make your own, stay out late exploring the nightlife or retreat to your quiet street when you need a break. It’s particularly popular with couples because you get that sense of living like a local rather than just passing through as a tourist.

Guest Reviews
Perfect central spot to visit all the sites in Jerusalem. A step away from the Light rail and the Ben Yehuda shopping district. 15 minute walk to the Western Wall. The owner was easy to contact and very responsive. There was also an option for safe keeping of baggage as we had a late flight out of Israel
