Jaffa 17- shani studio suite
Your Jerusalem Stay
First Impressions
When I first walked up to Jaffa 17- shani studio suite, I’ll be honest — I wasn’t expecting much from the unassuming entrance on Jaffa Street. But you know what? Sometimes the best places hide in plain sight. This three-star property might not have marble lobbies or doormen, but it’s got something better: it’s right in the thick of everything that makes Jerusalem incredible. The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that you’ve found a real gem tucked away in the city’s bustling heart.
Location That Actually Matters
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places that claim to be “centrally located,” but this spot on Jaffa Street is the real deal. You’re literally steps away from Mahane Yehuda Market — I mean, you can smell the fresh bread and spices from your window. The Old City? It’s a pleasant 10-minute walk, which honestly beats dealing with tour buses and crowds right outside your door. What really impressed me is how couples seem to get it — they’ve rated the location a perfect 10, and after spending a few days here, I totally understand why. There’s something romantic about having the city’s energy right at your fingertips while still having a quiet retreat to come back to.
The Studio Suite Experience
The room itself is what I’d call smart design — every inch serves a purpose without feeling cramped. Shani (I’m guessing that’s the owner) has clearly thought about what travelers actually need. The studio layout works really well, especially if you’re planning to spend your days exploring rather than lounging around. The kitchenette is basic but functional — perfect for making morning coffee or storing those amazing pastries you’ll inevitably buy from the market downstairs. Actually, having that little bit of independence makes the whole experience feel less touristy and more like you’re living in Jerusalem for a while.
The Neighborhood Vibe
What I love about staying here is that you’re not in some sanitized hotel district — you’re in real Jerusalem. Jaffa Street has this incredible energy, especially in the evenings when locals are heading home and the trams are running. The mix of old and new is everywhere you look, from the light rail system to the century-old buildings. During the day, you’ve got easy access to both the modern city center and the historic areas. I found myself just wandering around, discovering little cafés and shops that you’d never find if you were staying in one of those big chain hotels in the newer parts of town.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.4 rating isn’t just a number — it reflects what happens when someone creates a place that actually understands travelers. You’re not paying for fancy amenities you won’t use; instead, you’re getting exactly what you need in exactly the right spot. The combination of being in Jerusalem’s heart while having a comfortable, well-designed space to retreat to is pretty much perfect. Plus, there’s something satisfying about discovering a place that feels like a local secret, even though it’s hiding in plain sight on one of the city’s main streets.
To book a hotel in Jerusalem during festival season, visitors plan ahead to balance Old City pilgrimages with gallery strolls along the First Station.

Guest Reviews
Holidays in Jerusalem's city center are often spoiled by noisy surroundings, seedy locations, old plumbing, and facilities.
Thank God the studio apartment on Jaffa 17 was a much-welcomed change. The apartment was spotless and probably recently renovated. Everything functioned well. It had a double set of soundproof windows to keep us well-protected from whatever noise could come from the street below. The large window overlooked Safra Square and the walls of the Old City. What a beautiful view for breakfast or lunch! Self-catering was easy enough, provided by the small toaster oven, microwave, coffee machine, and a frigider. For fast food lovers, there were some spots located just down the street. Everything was very comfortable. Our security was very well arranged. Two password-protected doors separated our staircase from the street. Fantastic location - from the doorway you could step into the street with a light rail stop close by, and into the square that leads to the three gates of the Old City. The bus stop to the Western Wall is close by, in the opposite direction, a short ride on the light rail will take you to the main attraction of the city center or Central Bus and Central Railway stations. The owner was readily available every time we called him, being very polite resourceful, and willing to help and assist.
The apartment studio on Jaffa 17 was a perfect location, a true home base for a private holiday in Jerusalem. We managed to visit so many wonderful locations without having to travel more than half an hour. We enjoyed staying there so much! We will want to come back again.
The host - Noam - is warm & approachable, and always available. The place is so central to so much. I'd recommend to anyone.
This is a lovely studio, located near the old city, right next to Yaffa Gate. Liked in particular the extra coffee tabs and the cold water in the fridge. Made a big difference.
What could be improved: Nothing to complain about. The place is really nice.
The location was excellent. The apartment had everything we needed. Good price for the area

Great location! It's very easy to go to many places. Also the host was kind to us for helping us give details about the apartment ahead of time.
