Mate ALMA – By HOMY
Your Jerusalem Stay
First Impressions
Walking up to Mate ALMA – By HOMY on a quiet side street, you immediately get that “locals know best” feeling. This four-star boutique property sits right in the heart of Jerusalem, but honestly, it feels more like staying at a stylish friend’s place than a traditional hotel. The building has this understated elegance — nothing flashy, just really well thought out design that makes you want to settle in immediately.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s what I love about Alma Street — you’re literally steps from Jerusalem’s main attractions, but you’re not dealing with the chaos of the tourist strips. I mean, couples consistently rate this spot a 9.1, and after spending time here, I totally get why. You can walk to the Old City in about ten minutes, hit Mahane Yehuda Market for incredible food, and still come back to this peaceful little pocket when you need to recharge. The neighborhood has that perfect mix of local cafes and actual Jerusalem life happening around you.
The Space Itself
Each room feels more like a carefully curated apartment than your typical hotel setup. The design is clean and modern, but not in that sterile way — there are thoughtful touches everywhere, from the lighting to the way they’ve arranged the furniture. What really struck me was how much attention they paid to the details that actually matter when you’re traveling. Good storage space, proper lighting for reading, and — this might sound small — but the Wi-Fi actually works everywhere, which you know can be hit or miss in Jerusalem’s old stone buildings.
Why the High Ratings Make Sense
That 9.1 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen — you feel it the moment you check in. The staff genuinely knows the area and will point you toward things you wouldn’t find on your own. They’re not just reciting tourist brochures; they’re sharing actual insights about when to visit certain sites, which restaurant serves the best shakshuka nearby, or how to time your Old City visit to avoid the crowds. It’s that kind of local knowledge that turns a good trip into one of those experiences you’re still talking about months later.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
Look, Jerusalem can be overwhelming — there’s so much history and intensity packed into every corner. What makes Mate ALMA work is that it gives you a genuine home base without trying too hard to be something it’s not. You’re not paying for unnecessary frills, but everything they do offer actually enhances your stay. The location puts you right where you want to be, the space lets you spread out and breathe, and honestly, after a long day of exploring, you’ll appreciate having a place that feels this thoughtfully put together. It’s the kind of spot where you start planning your next Jerusalem trip before you’ve even checked out.
Jerusalem’s hotels curate heritage suites, mezze breakfasts, and scholar-led walks through hidden synagogues.

Guest Reviews
Great location. The rooms are perfectly clean. We had everything we need. Feeling home and happy
Very good experience, roomy and clean apartment, great design. Has all the essential facilities (dishes, hot plate for Shabbat). Great location, very close to a park. Overall great experience, will visit again. We even got a key for Shabbat, good accommodations for observant Jews.
What could be improved: Nothing, no complaints.

Great location, nice building, clean and homy :)
There were toys for children, very thoughtful
What could be improved: The folding beds were not comfortable.
The apartment is well equipped and perfectly located
The apartment is located perfectly. Quiet, but close to attractions.
The Homy team were kind and generous. We have been given a late check out, free of charge.
This is our second time staying at Homy. It won't be our last!
Extremely clean well maintained apartment in a quiet residential area of Jerusalem. 5 minute walk to Machane Yehuda through the beautiful old neighborhood of Nachlaot and across the street from the evergreen Sacher Park. The property management and site maintenance person were excellent and very responsive.
What could be improved: The apartment was really well lit with bright white light. I only wish we could dim the lights at night a bit. We were able to just keep a distant light on to give just enough ambient illumination.
Location good, accommodation good, most things worked as they should. Generally very good flat, and very helpful service staff.
What could be improved: Lift could be erratic.toilet had small leak onto floor
It was a perfect location where you could walk around - and did not require the car. Very charming and everything as described, cozy, clean with everything you need for overnight stay.
