St. John Apartment
Your Jerusalem Stay
First Impressions
Walking up to St. John Apartment on St John the Baptist Street, you immediately get that “hidden gem” feeling — you know, the kind of place that doesn’t scream tourist trap but feels authentically Jerusalem. This three-star property sits right in what locals consider one of the best neighborhoods in the city, and honestly, the location score of 9.8 makes total sense once you’re here. The building has that understated charm that works so well in this ancient city, where flashy doesn’t really fit anyway.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re actually in the thick of things without being overwhelmed by crowds. The street itself has this lovely residential feel, but step out and you’ll find yourself within easy walking distance of the Old City’s main attractions. I mean, couples consistently rate this area highly for romantic getaways, and after spending time here, I get why. There’s something about being able to duck into quiet side streets when the tourist areas get too intense, then emerge right back into the action when you want it.
The Space Itself
The apartment setup is what really sets this place apart from typical hotel rooms. You get a proper living space that doesn’t feel cramped or overly formal — it’s more like staying at a well-appointed friend’s place than a sterile hotel room. The kitchen is actually functional (not just for show), which is brilliant when you want to grab fresh ingredients from the local markets and prepare something simple. The whole space feels lived-in but well-maintained, if that makes sense.
What Makes It Work
The 9.3 rating isn’t just about the location, though that’s obviously a huge part of it. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay comfortable without being overly intrusive. There’s parking available, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Jerusalem by car will tell you is worth its weight in gold. The building stays quiet even though you’re in such a central area — I think it’s because most guests are couples looking for that romantic Jerusalem experience rather than party groups.
Why Guests Love It
What really strikes me is how this place manages to feel both local and tourist-friendly at the same time. You’re not isolated in some hotel district — you’re actually living in Jerusalem for a few days. The combination of having your own space, being in such a prime location, and getting that authentic neighborhood feel is pretty rare. Plus, for couples especially, there’s something romantic about having your own little Jerusalem hideaway rather than just another hotel room. The fact that it consistently gets such high marks from visitors tells you everything you need to know about whether it delivers on that promise.

Guest Reviews
The travel and the accommodation in this excellently equipped, tidy, and modern establishment in the old city of Jerusalem is a unique experience, and I kept extending my stay because I enjoyed my time there. There isn't enough space in this short section for me to describe the pleasure I experienced during my stay and the joy of the moments spent here. I made new friends, including the wonderful and warm host of this establishment, Dimitris, and his lovely wife, Anna. They were always kind and at my service for anything I needed. I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to have met them and to keep them as a dear persons in my life.
What could be improved: Like any traveler, I can be demanding, but despite all my efforts to find something I could suggest for improvement or enhancement— I have to say there is nothing. Everything is simply perfect.
Modern style apartment, not something always found in the old city. Great location with a short walk to the Al Aqsa mosque. Food and shopping was easy and always accessible from the room. The room has all you need to enjoy a trip with your family in the holy land
What could be improved: Everything was perfect
Central to Musjid Al Aqsa, it's below imperial hotel on the same line as the chain gate. Approx 7 min Walk.
Apartment is comfortable with most amenities you require for a self catering stay.
Host was very helpful and looked after our needs despite some hiccups. Location is great. No, it's outstanding.
What could be improved: Nothing.
It was a lovely, fully equipped self catering apartment. The design, the dishes, glasses..everything was IKEA lol. The apartment is well equipped with everything you need. Lots of towels and toilet paper..laundry baskets and detergents for washing machine (we did lots of kids laundry) . lots of coffee capsules are provided. The kettle wasn't boiling and Dmitry immediately sourced us a working kettle. He was very accommodating and available at all times to deal with queries. The neighbours were friendly. We also loved having a separate laundry/store room for luggage
What could be improved: The cleaning equipment such as broom, dustpan, mop were not in a clean condition so we couldn't use them. We used the vacuum only, but it hadn't been emptied before our stay.
There were not enough teaspoons (only 2)
The electricity tripped a few times, not sure what was the cause.
The oven needs a scrub inside.
I would suggest that if guests are staying more than a week, to offer 1 complementary cleaning service
This apartment is right in the centre of the Old City, a three minute walk from the Holy Sepulchre. All the great sights of Jerusalem are within easy walking distance. Perfect location. Moreover, the place was clean, comfortable and charming, and the host, Dimitri, very helpful. Very close to the Jerusalem Light Rial at the new Gate too, so West Jerusalem was easily reachable.
What could be improved: Nothing!

location perfect for easy travel in the old city. Apartment is cozy and clean. And with friendly neighbours.
What could be improved: Have to be careful with the stairs up to the apartment as quite steep.
The apartment was in a perfect location. It was very close to many attractions. Our family of four had a lovely stay here. It was very spacious and very clean. Beds were comfortable and having two full bathrooms was great. The property manager Dimitri was excellent. I highly recommend staying here. If we ever come back to Isreal we would most definitely stay here again.
Location location location , just 2 minutes walking from the church of the holy sepulchre , you literally live in the middle of the market with no noise at all. Dimitri went far and beyond and he greets us at 5 am because there was around 24 hours delay in flight
What could be improved: Nothing really, to get to the apartment you have to go up around 12 steps which they said in some reviews that it was hard but if you really can go up your steps at your home then this should not be a problem even for my 73 years old mother in law which she was ok with it
